KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police were called out to a neighborhood northeast of downtown Kansas City late Friday morning after a postal truck was stolen.   It was reportedly stolen from the residential area near Prospect Ave and 24 Hwy at about 11:15 a.m.

A police dispatcher told FOX 4 that police followed the postal truck for a brief time, but then stopped the pursuit of the stolen vehicle. It was last seen southbound at Linwood & Gillham Plaza, driven by a black man wearing a hat.

FOX 4 Megan Dillard talked to a neighbor, who had surveillance cameras on her home that recorded a portion of the vehicle theft.

The video shows the mail carrier pull in, park, and walk away. The mail carrier returns, walks away again, and that's when the man walks up, gets into the vehicle and pulls away.
