OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Police were at scene of a shooting that happened near Grandview and 83rd Terrace in Overland Park on Friday night where one woman was injured. An Overland Park police spokesperson said that late Friday afternoon the woman was shot inside a house. FOX 4 has been told the woman was there with relatives at the time of the shooting.

The spokesperson said the victim walked out of the house on her own and got into an ambulance; she was treated at a hospital and released later on Friday night. Police also canvassed the area with canines and infrared lights, apparently looking for the gun.

While police did initially say that officers were called to the home for an accidental shooting, a 22-year-old man was arrested in the aftermath. He was booked into the Johnson County jail where he awaits possible charges from the district attorney's office.
