WASHINGTON (CNN) — A man attempted to enter the White House grounds Monday and was quickly taken into custody, causing a temporary lock down of the White House’s north lawn.

Just before 7 a.m. EST, the man, who has not yet been identified, attempted to enter White House grounds at an entrance at East Executive avenue, a small drive way that runs between the Treasury Department and East Wing, a Secret Service official said. The man tried to walk in behind an authorized pass holder, the official said.

Secret Service officers arrested the man who will be transferred to DCPD custody.

The North Lawn has since been reopened.

In addition, a man hopped one of the bike racks that encircle the White House Sunday night by the William Sherman Monument, according to the Secret Service. That man was also arrested.
