KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Many in Weston, Mo., are feeling the loss of a young man who made friends and built a good business with his father among the quaint, unique shops that Weston is known for.

Colton Frisbee, 23, died Thursday morning in a tragic accident in the 8800 block of Northeast Parvin Road, where he was on a painting job at Inland Parts and Services. He was standing on a scissor lift when the lift and scaffolding began to fall. Colton jumped off, but the lift fell on top of him.

Colton and his father, Corey, own a business called "Weston Tobacco." For almost five years, people have come from near and far to get their hands on a freshly-rolled cigar at the tobacco shop in the heart of downtown Weston.

"He started with a little table and some tobacco leaves and everybody said that he wouldn't make it," said Terry Kast, another Weston business-owner.

After almost ten years in the painting business, Corey and Colton put down their brushes and picked up cigars. The originality and the mood it created made customers return.

"The cool thing about the shop is the people and just the cigars," said customer Steve Card.

"He rolls them himself and stuff. Some of them might be shipped in from different places," said Terry Cline, a customer. "Real nice guy."

The people of Weston that FOX 4's Robert Townsend spoke to vowed to stick by Corey, a dedicated business man, friend and father, now mourning his son.

"I want to cry. I mean, I don't really know what we can do other than try to see what we can do to help Corey go forward and help the family," said Kast.

OSHA is investigating the accident that killed Colton. A second painter on the scissor lift  rode it down and survived.
