KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The family of a teen, who was shot and killed in a Kansas City park Friday, are searching for answers surrounding their son’s death.
Asaan H. Williams, 18, was killed early Friday evening at a park near 38th and Kensington.
“Somebody saw something, I mean I am not going to rest in peace until I know, I just want to know what happened,” said Haji Williams, the victim’s father.
Williams spent Sunday at the park where his son was killed, searching for answers in his death.
“That’s why I am out here now,” he said. “I feel like I can’t leave him I feel like he is still laying right here and I am with him.”
Williams said he and his son were both supposed to graduate this spring. Williams said he and his son motivated one another.
“He was one of the ones who kept me going you know what I mean, I couldn't be darn near 40 trying to pursue my dreams without him,” he said.
According to police, there were multiple witnesses at the park when the shooting happened, but they cleared the scene before investigators arrived to interview them.
“Get with the KCPD homicide detectives and tell them the truth because that person will kill again,” said Rosilyn Temple, with Kansas City’s Mothers in Charge.
Williams said he is still in a daze and in disbelief his only son is gone.
“I can’t leave because you know this is the last place he was right here,” he told FOX 4 on Sunday.
