OLATHE, Kan. -- Robot versus Robot. That’s the competition Olathe Northwest High School students are preparing for.

Friday was the day before the big competition. Nerves were high, but most importantly the competitors were well-prepared.

It’s taken them nearly a year to complete a robot big enough and tough enough to challenger another.

“Most of it is done, but we still have a few minor kinks to work through before our competition,” said Jason Irvin who is busy finishing his robot.

Five robots will be pitted against each other in three-minute matches. It is Kansas City's first regional robotics competition.

The competition will begin Saturday at noon at Olathe Northwest High School.
