KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, woman faces felony child abuse charges in connection to the death of her one-year-old daughter.

Donniesha Lasha Lee, 19, has been charged with first-degree child abuse and domestic assault charges, Jackson County prosecutors announced on Saturday.

According to court documents, Lee was drinking on Thursday and holding the child—identified only as “DLF”—on her chest, repeatedly striking the child and telling them to be quiet. Authorities say that others at the home in the 6900 block of 119th Street asked her to stop and give them the child, but Lee allegedly refused.

The child was later taken to a metro hospital early Friday morning, and was died shortly after. An autopsy is being conducted on Saturday.

Prosecutors have requested a $250,000 bond in the case.
