Northland security guard allegedly shoots man armed with knife

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City, Mo.  police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured in the Northland Thursday morning.

Police said a security guard noticed a man who was armed with a knife prowling around vehicles near 72nd and N. Stark.

Police described the area as a residential area with houses and townhouses.

The security allegedly shot the man in the hand shortly after noticing him in the area.

Police have not commented on why the man was in the area or what motivated the security guard to shoot the man.

Police said the suspected prowler's injuries are not life threatening.
