ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (AP) — An Oklahoma woman is facing charges that she stole a parrot from a St. Augustine, Florida, pet store.

Dawn Christine Griman of Ada, Oklahoma, is charged with grand theft, authorities said.

The Florida Times-Union reported Friday that surveillance video shows a woman enter the Pet World store Thursday afternoon and quietly snatch a green white-eyed conure valued at $600. She left the store with a man and a boy, and they drove away in a Cadillac Escalade.

A witness spotted the Escalade on Friday and called the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say they found Griman behind the wheel and the parrot sitting on the front seat.

She was being held late Friday at the county jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.
