Water rescue crews call off search for driver & car that someone thought went into Kaw River

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Water rescue crews  were dispatched to Kaw Point Park around noon Friday after hearing reports that a car was in the river. The park is located along the Kaw River. According to firefighters, they received a call from someone who claimed their family member just drove a car into the Kaw River and was being swept down stream. Firefighters launched two boats into the river to search for the vehicle and or the driver of the vehicle.

Rescue workers said they have not found anything unusual in the river as of 12:45 p.m. Friday and then called off the search about an hour-and-a-half later.
