Police seek leads after girl, 16, found dead in the street in KCK

KANSAS CITY, Kan. —  Kansas City, Kansas Police are investigating the shooting death of a 16-year-old girl on Saturday, and want the public to help them find a truck that could be connected.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Ridge Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. and found Jamie J. Hernandez-Zubia, dead in the street from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police released a description (below) of a truck they thought was connected to her death, and on Wednesday, June 3, they announced they had found it. It was located Tuesday at about 10:30 p.m. No one was inside it. There was no further information released by police.


 

  • The truck is believed to be a late 90s or early 2000s model F-150, flare-side truck.
  • It is white, with a regular cab
  • It had 20″ chrome rims
  • Inside the cab, was a “touch-screen” device
  • It might have a bullet hole in the tailgate
