KANSAS CITY, Mo --- FOX 4 film critics Shawn Edwards and Russ Simmons broke down some of the newest films that can be viewed at home. Watch the video above to find out which films are worth watching when it's just too hot to go outside this summer.

  1. KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE (R) 20th Century Fox

RUSS: If you put James Bond on steroids and added over-the-top R-rated violence and modern cynicism, you might come up with something like “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” based on the popular comic book. Colin Firth plays an agent with a clandestine non-governmental spy organization who recruits a young apprentice, played by newcomer Taron Egerton, to go up against evil megalomaniac Samuel L. Jackson.

SHAWN: "The Kingsman" is an imaginative fresh take on the spy genre. Its stylistic delivery makes it a total fun watch. And you will stay engaged as the rooster of zany characters never skip a beat especially Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson. Yes, they ham it up but ain't nothing wrong with a little pork.

RUSS: While it’s decadent and ethically questionable, “Kingsman” is so well-directed and energetic and it becomes a guilty pleasure.

SHAWN:  "The Kingsman" is loaded with bonus material including a style guide. Swanky! This is one of my favorite movies of the year.

  1. PROJECT ALMANAC (PG-13) Paramount Pictures

RUSS: The found footage genre meets the time travel genre in “Project Almanac,” an intriguing but overly familiar sci-fi opus. An appealing cast of newcomers and a steady directorial hand keeps the convoluted plot from flying off the rails. But you may feel like you went back in time and viewed a movie you've already seen.

SHAWN:  Yes, "Project Almanac" is full of stale clichés and tired plot points that you have seen before. It also lacks a hipness that could have been added to make things a bit more interesting. Could have really used a bit more "Project X." Super weak extras also make this a dud of a release.
