Lawrence police investigating stabbing at motel as an attempted murder

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Police found a woman stabbed multiple times in her mid-section on Wednesday afternoon at a Super 8 Motel in the 500 block of McDonald Drive. The woman was sent to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and a 46-year-old man was detained at the scene around 1 p.m.

Lawrence police say they’re investigating the stabbing as an attempted murder. Officers say that the suspect and victim have a relationship, and that an argument led to the stabbing. Both were employees at the motel.

The 46-year-old man is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and was sent to the Douglas County Jail on Wednesday night, FOX 4 will not name him until formal charges have been filed. The woman remains hospitalized in an unknown condition according to police.
