MONTREAL — The respect between Germany and the U.S. Women’s Soccer teams is mutual and Tuesday’s World Cup semi-final has all the ingredients for excitement.
The two teams have alternated between #1 and #2 for more than a decade. Germany’s coach says it’s always special to play against the U.S., but is intent on staying on top.
Likewise for the U.S. team.
“It’s almost like a final in itself. Germany’s had a great run this tournament and we’ve done pretty dang well and have been continuing to get better and better throughout the tournament I think so I think it’s going to be a great game tomorrow for the fans,” said Alex Morgan, U.S. Women’s National Team forward. “You know we’ve been watching Germany a lot this tournament knowing that we could very well see them in the semi-final and the day has finally come… and we will be ready.”
The match is at 6 p.m. CT on FOX 4. Coverage of the Women’s World Cup Semi-finals begins at 5 p.m. If the U.S. wins, they will have one last team to beat in the finals.
