KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County watched as the "Big Bang Event" happened Saturday.

More than 20,000 people gathered to watch the largest firework in the U.S. go off at Longview Lake.

The 24” shell weighs more than 150 pounds and went nearly 2,000 feet in the air.

When it came back down it looked like a weeping willow tree which was about 2,500 feet wide.

One of the people constructing the shell told FOX 4’s Rob Collins that the boom is expected to be so large that it will shake cars hard enough to set off their alarms, which on Saturday night it reportedly did.
