KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police continue their investigation into the attack that left a Northland mother and her teen daughter clinging to life, both shot with a shotgun and suffering critical injuries.

Meanwhile, the community around them– including neighbors, co-workers, church friends and many others– continue to look for ways to support Michelle Roberts-Class and her 14-year-old daughter, Reagan Class.

Northgate Baptist Church, 800 N.E. Vivion Road, will hold a public prayer vigil for the Class family on Sunday, July 12 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

“We are going to be holding Michelle and Reagan up in prayer for physical healing,” said George Sipp, Northgate Baptist Church pastor, in an email announcement about the vigil. “Please remember Dan and the rest of the family as well.”

Michelle and Reagan were shot at about 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7 at their home in the 10300 block of North Virginia in the Northland. Pastor Sipp said the vigil will be about prayer and said they will not be relaying any information about the tragedy.

A neighbor found Michelle shot in the stomach in the driveway of her home. Reagan was found inside the home, also suffering from a shotgun wound.

“The family’s care and safety is our number one concern. We are so thankful for the miracle of the girls being here with us and we thank you for your continued prayer and concern for the Class family,” the pastor wrote in his email.

Michelle Roberts-Class, who was found shot and injured in the driveway, warned officers at the scene that the gunman—whom she says she had never seen before—was still inside the home with her two daughters, ages 14 and 9. When police entered the home, they found Reagan Class critically injured. The younger daughter was found unharmed.

A donation page has been set up for the Class Family through the GoFundMe site.  The pastor says people are also welcome to bring small items, snacks or cards to the church and they will pass them along to the family. The pastor says there will be a small media presence at the vigil, acknowledging that by keeping the tragic shooting in the news headlines, people will be reminded to be vigilant about observing unusual activity or people and reporting it to police in an effort to find the man who did this to Michelle and Reagan.
