KU defeats Germany to win gold for USA in World University Games

GWANGJU, Korea – The University of Kansas basketball team defeated Germany Monday morning in the gold medal match that went into double overtime.

The Jayhawks were representing the USA in the World University Games. Kansas scored the last nine points of the game and defeated Germany 84 to 77.

The win was the first men’s basketball gold at the World University Games for the USA since 2005.

They will be able to add the title of World Champion to their list of National Championships and Big 12 Championships.
