9-year-old girl dies, four injured in rollover crash on I-70

ODESSA, Mo. -- A nine-year-old girl is dead after a crash east of Odessa, Missouri Sunday evening.

Around 6:30 five people, who are all residents of Kansas, were traveling  westbound on I-70 near mile marker 37, when the driver of the vehicle lost control and it overturned. Four of the occupants were injured in the crash, and a nine-year-old girl, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of impact, was killed.

The other occupants in the 2001 Nisson Maxima were the driver who is a 33-year-old woman, a 36-year-old woman,  a six-year-old girl,  and a three-year-old girl.

Only the three-year-old girl was wearing a seatbelt/safety device.

According to the accident report, the driver veered onto the right shoulder where the car began to skid and overturned multiple times, ejecting the six-year-old girl and the nine-year-old girl.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
