KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police are looking for whoever killed two men and shot three others at a family gathering on the city’s northeast side Saturday night.
The girlfriend of one of the victims told FOX 4 she fears an arm wrestling match could have led to the night’s violent ending.
“They were arm wrestling and it got out of control,” said Christina Applegate. “I don’t know for sure if that’s what it was but I can assume that’s part of it.”
On Monday Police identified the two killed as 31-year-old Antonio Hernandez and 39-year-old Omero Garcia. Applegate said Garcia is her boyfriend of almost 13 years and that she is currently pregnant with his twins. She said they share three other children together and he leaves behind another two daughters from a previous relationship.
“His baby, she’s now going around saying her daddy hates her because he’s not coming home,” Applegate told FOX 4 with tears coming down her face.
Police said the shooting happened during a birthday party outside of a home near Thompson and Colorado.
Applegate said she doesn’t know who could have killed her boyfriend.
“I don’t think he has enemies, I don’t even know who any of these people are,” she said. “He never had enemies.
