Police search for two armed people who fled accident.

MERRIAM, Kan. — The search continues for two people who ran off following an accident in Johnson County. Late Monday morning a vehicle crashed on I-35 near 75th Street in Merriam. Both Merriam and Overland Park Police were involved in the search and tracked the pair to some nearby railroad tracks, but never found them. Witnesses say they were armed.

Those who witnessed the accident say it was concerning.

“Get the heck out of there. Was kinda scared. It was the first time I saw a gun that close, had it by his side, could pull it up and shoot or whatever,” said Gary Coon, witness.

Coon said one of men seemed to be bleeding pretty badly before running off.
