Police identify victim of fatal accident on westbound K-10 at K-7

LENEXA, Kan. — One person is dead following an accident along K-10 Tuesday afternoon.

Police say that the accident involved one car and a pedestrian near Cedar Creek.

On Tuesday evening Police identified the victim as Hunter Cade Robinson, 19, of Lawrence, Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the pedestrian, who was later identified as Robinson, stopped his vehicle on the highway on the right shoulder. The pedestrian got out of his van for an unknown reason and was standing in front of it when he stepped into the right lane of traffic where he was struck by an oncoming car.

Authorities say the van did not appear to be having mechanical issues.

The driver of the car that hit the pedestrian was transported to the hospital. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident closed westbound K-10 while the Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the cause of the accident.
