KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Road crews shut down the ramp from I-35 south to I-29 north on Sunday, and the closure is expected to make it more difficult for northland drivers to get around town.
The ramp will remain closed until September for construction. The exit at Parvin Road will also be closed.
MoDOT officials say detours will be posted, but they suggest drivers take Route 152, Route 210 or I-435.
The construction is part of an $11 million dollar project to rehabilitate 12 bridges and overpasses in the northland. The projects stretch from the I-29/35 split north to KCI.
Inspectors take a close look at bridges and overpasses in the metro every other year. During the latest inspections, they identified 12 that needed to be fixed right away.
Construction on I-29 began in April and is expected to continue through October.
