YORK, Pa. -- A cat named Opie is being hailed a hero in one Pennsylvania neighborhood.

Angelica Sipe says her cat took a stray bullet that ricocheted and landed just inches from her 3-year-old son.

Police say someone shot a bullet through Sipe's window on Thursday. When she heard the noise, Sipe says she immediately checked on her son, who was unharmed.

Then she turned to Opie who had been sitting on the sofa near the window.

“It came in the top of his head, out the bottom of his neck, and back into his shoulder and out his armpit rib area,” said Sipe.

But it didn't stop there. The bullet bounced back, hitting the sofa and then flying across the room to a love seat, then lodged in a pillow, just inches from Sipe's toddler.

She's convinced Opie saved her son's life by taking the bullet.
