KCMO police search for driver who led them on a chase

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that led police on a chase Wednesday morning.

The car chase began around 39th and south Benton where police believe the driver hit a bicyclist. As of 6:20 a.m. police had still not located the person that was reportedly hit.

Police say the driver of a Dodge Intrepid crashed into a sidewalk near 41st and South Benton while trying to avoid police and the suspect fled from the vehicle. Police believe the car is stolen because they noticed the ignition had been popped.

It is unclear if anyone else was in the car with the driver.

As of 6:30 a.m. police were still searching for the driver.
