KANSAS CITY, Mo --

1) JURASSIC WORLD (PG-13)

Universal Pictures

RUSS

Twenty-two years after the minor mishaps at “Jurassic Park,” the dinosaur zoo is back up and running in “Jurassic World.” This time, to up the ante on thrills, the operators have used genetic engineering to create a scarier, more intelligent star attraction. What could possibly go wrong?

SHAWN

Actually everything including the execution of this movie. But hey the dinosaurs are really cool looking and realistic scary. "Jurassic World" is a popcorn movie on steroids.

RUSS

Chris Pratt from “Guardians of the Galaxy” stars as man who tries to train raptors. All of his skills are put to the test when the new dino slips its pen. “Jurassic World” is a terrific movie thrill ride, beautifully produced and packed with action and dazzling visuals. It provides precisely the movie mayhem we expect.

SHAWN

"Jurassic World" actually isn't a movie. It's a thrill ride disguised as a movie in every way.

2) PAPER TOWNS (PG-13)

20th Century Fox

RUSS

“Paper Towns” is yet another coming-of-age dramedy adapted from the work of novelist John Green, who gave us the tearjerker, “The Fault in Our Stars.”

SHAWN

There is a bit of heart in this road trip movie. John Green is a one note writer but the diverse young cast adds just enough spunk to make things mildly interesting.

RUSS

“Paper Towns” offers nothing new or groundbreaking and the finale comes across as a bit anti-climatic. But while it’s much ado about nothing, “Paper Towns” is a sweet natured and well-acted tale, a real relief from the gross out teen comedies we’ve become all-too accustomed to.

SHAWN

I liked the movie's somewhat realistic vibe and there may be one or two future superstars down the road.

3) Z FOR ZACHARIAH (PG-13)

Roadside Attractions

RUSS:

“Z for Zachariah” is a post-apocalyptic love triangle about an innocent young woman and two men who may be the only human survivors. Margot Robbie, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Chris Pine give effective performances in this smart, low-key sci-fi drama.
