1 lb ground beef
1 large egg
1/2 cup unseasoned bread crumbs
1/4 cup of your favorite tomato pizza sauce recipe
1 tsp salt
1 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp marjoram
In large mixing bowl. Combine all the ingredients and mix thoroughly with hands. Divide into 2 oz. portions. Gently roll into a ball shape. Place balls on a sheet tray covered in parchment paper. Cover with additional pizza sauce on top liberally. Bake at 350 degrees, check at around 20 minutes. Internal temperature of meatballs should be at least 160 degrees. Check by breaking apart the largest ball, there should be no pink color.
If desired, top with a small amount of shredded mozzarella cheese to melt during last 5 minutes of cooking, and garnish with fresh basil just before serving.
