KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The mix of freezing temperatures, rain and runoff created dangerous driving conditions for drivers across the metro on Tuesday.

Around 5:45 a.m. westbound I-435 closed at I-35 inside of the Johnson County Gateway Project due to icy conditions. The highway reopened shortly before 7 a.m. after KDot crews were able to treat the ice.

A pickup truck also overturned along northbound I-35 just before I-70. Ambulances and fire trucks were on the scene. There is no word on whether there were injuries.

Another driver slid off the road near northbound I-435 near I-70 just past the sports complexes. FOX 4 was able to watch this vehicle get back on the roadway live on-air, but encourages drivers to call motorist assist if you slide off the road and need assistance.
