Police searching for suspects in shooting near Westport

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are searching for suspects in a robbery and shooting that happened near Westport on Sunday.

Police said the victim was walking on Central Street near 39th Terrace around 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning when he was approached by two people, a man and a woman.

The suspects reportedly produced a handgun and demanded his coat. The victim gave them his coat, and was then shot in the stomach as the suspects fled on foot.

The victim ran to the rear door of an address on the 300 block of Westport for help. He was transported to an area hospital.

Police gave no further details at this time.
