KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri Highway Patrol says the weather is to blame for hundreds of accidents throughout the Kansas City area between Sunday night and Tuesday evening.
This week’s winter weather has left cars in ditches and people stranded along the side of the road.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol in the Kansas City area there were 610 calls for service. There were 210 crashes and 37 of those involved injuries. And while there were weather related deaths in other parts of Missouri, the Kansas City area had zero.
Highway departments have had crews out working continuously since Sunday night, and they were still out Wednesday morning.
MoDOT warned the roads were especially slick because of the freezing and re-freezing overnight.
Although crews were treating the highways, they warned drivers to take it slow.
