OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A woman is dead after a crash in Overland Park, Kan., Sunday night.
According to police, around 7 p.m. a tan vehicle carrying one person was heading west on 75th Street and ran a red light and crashed into a silver Chevy Truck with two occupants, including a pregnant woman. The collision pushed the vehicles into the southbound lanes where they hit a minivan carrying 5 people.
Six of the eight people involved in the crash were taken to local hospitals. Police initially told FOX 4 that there were ten people involved. One of the crash victims was a 39-week pregnant woman. Hospital staff was able to successfully deliver the baby, but the woman later died from injuries related to the crash. Police say the child is doing well.
The driver of the car that ran the red light was taken to jail. Click here for charges filed against that 21-year-old driver.
So far police have not released the identity of the deceased woman.
