ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Buchanan County prosecutor has filed attempted rape of a minor charges against a man who works as a firefighter for St. Joseph.

Jeremy Wigchert, 29, is accused of using email to arrange to meet the minor, who is 15-years-old. According to the probable cause statement, Wigchert used explicit language and described sexual acts.

Wigchert lives in Kansas City, but police say he drove to St. Joseph on Thursday, Feb. 4, where he planned to meet the minor for sex.

In the legal document filed with the court, the detective investigating Wigchert describes him as a danger to the community because he 'was in a position to serve the community and adolescents through his employment.'
