Callers report hearing as many as 15 gunshots fired at apartment complex

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Crime scene investigators are collecting evidence Tuesday morning from an overnight shooting at the Greenleaf Apartments.

Police received as many as four separate calls from people living at the apartment complex or around the 12th and Hardesty area just before 1 a.m.  All the callers reported hearing what they described as gunshots. Some callers reported hearing as many as 15 shots fired.

The victim is going to be fine but police are concerned because there were numerous shots fired.

One caller reported that his girlfriend had been shot in the shoulder from bullets that came through his apartment window. The girlfriend was taken to the hospital where her condition is reported as stable.

Investigators spent nearly four hours on the scene Tuesday morning trying to gather clues  to determine who fired the shots.

The Kansas City, Mo., police captain is calling the incident an aggravated assault.

So far no suspect information has been released.
