OAK GROVE, Mo. -- Authorities were called to a reported hit and run incident near the intersection of 12th Street and Royal Street around midnight Friday night which left one victim with critical injuries.

Debris was strewn along a stretch of 12th Street where neighbors said the victim was struck by a vehicle.

Evidence and witness accounts led to police to a house in the 1900 block of High Drive where the suspect's vehicle was hidden in the garage, just about a mile away from the scene of the accident.

Occupants of the house refused to open the door until the Jackson County SWAT team was able to convince them to come out.

Police said they have arrested the suspects, but did not specify how many were involved, nor any identities. Neighbors told FOX 4 that a man and a woman were taken into custody.

A family friend said on March 19 that the victim was out of the hospital, although medical bills continue to burden the family. A GoFundMe page has been set up for anyone who would like to help the family.
