KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- FOX 4's Shawn Edwards and Russ Simmons say it's a great weekend to take the family to the theater to check out Disney's newest release. Watch the video above to find out what they loved about "Zootopia" and the other films released this week.

1) ZOOTOPIA (PG)

Walt Disney

RUSS

With a name like “Zootopia,” you might expect a cute Disney animated flick about anthropomorphic animals. And while you’d be right, “Zootopia” is much, much more. It’s a wildly imaginative, beautifully animated comic crime thriller.

SHAWN

Seriously, "Zootopia" is genius. The combination of terrific storytelling and knock your socks off animation makes for an instant Disney classic. So beautifully told, creatively dense and fun you automatically want to watch multiple times.

RUSS

“Zootopia” is a utopian city where predator and prey peacefully co-exist by suppressing their aggressive instincts. But when a bunny cop investigates a missing person’s case, she discovers the city’s dark underbelly. “Zootopia” slyly comments on humanity and the very the nature of civilization. There are a few scary moments that might disturb very young viewers, but this funny, thoroughly engaging movie is the year’s most pleasant cinematic surprise.

SHAWN

It doesn't get much better than this. To say that "Zootopia" is one of the best Disney animated features ever sounds like a big statement, but it's true. Smart enough to keep adults entertained and cute enough to keep the kiddos laughing. Sure the story gets a bit complicated, but this is genius film making and this year's first masterpiece.

2) LONDON HAS FALLEN (R)

Focus Features

RUSS

“London Has Fallen” is the sequel to the 2013 hit action thriller, “Olympus Has Fallen.” This time terrorists attack the funeral of the British Prime Minister and attempt to kill off all of the world’s leaders in one fell swoop.

SHAWN

Cut from the "Die Hard" school of filmmaking "London Has Fallen" is a lean, somewhat unbelievable action film with just enough political edge to keep things interesting. Thanks Gerad Butler. He's perfect for these shinnaigans.

RUSS

Gerard Butler is back as the backside-kicking secret service agent in charge of protecting the President. Vice President Morgan Freeman calls the shots from back home. It’s arguably jingoistic and exploitive, but “London Has Fallen” is a rousing, high-powered thriller the delivers the action goods.

SHAWN

It's entertaining and quick. but warning it's a bit violent and a tad stupid. But who cares? The entertainment value is high with this one. And the shots of London's more famous landmarks are tourist inspiring excellent.

3) WISKEY TANGO FOXTROT (R)

Paramount Pictures

RUSS

Tina Fey plays real life foreign correspondent Kim Baker in “Whisky Tango Foxtrot,” an adaptation of Baker’s popular memoir about her decadent and darkly humorous experiences reporting from chaotic, war-torn Afghanistan and Pakistan.

SHAWN

Just so you know this isn't SNL Tina Fey funny. In fact "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is actually pretty serious stuff with funny moments.

RUSS

While neither as funny nor as riveting as it should be, Fey and company make it a mildly absorbing stranger-in-a-strange-land tale.

SHAWN

I agree. But Tina Fey is good. Nice to see her in a mature role. Just wished they had explored this situation better. Lots here to really dive into.
