INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- Two people are under arrest following a chase that took them to the entrance of the Truman Sports Complex with the pair making a run for it toward the stadiums.

The second of those suspects was captured at about 9:30 p.m. near the sports complex. A female passenger didn't get far as she tried to make a dash to Kauffman Stadium.

Independence police say they spotted a stolen truck near 40 Highway and Blue Ridge and gave chase. That lasted all of about 30 seconds until the driver of the truck collided with a car exiting Interstate 70 onto the George Brett Bridge.

The innocent driver wasn't hurt, but the pair in the truck couldn't get far without any rear axle to the truck, ending up right in front of Gate 1 of the sports complex.

Both the male driver and female passenger ran, but were eventually captured, and charges are pending.
