Cameron inmate sends letter threatening area children

CAMERON, Mo. — An inmate at the Cameron Correctional Institution sent a letter making threats against children in Dekalb County and surrounding areas in northwest Missouri.

The letter was received at the Buchanan County Courthouse.

Investigators with the Department of Corrections and other law enforcement officials are currently investigating the situation, although they believe it is a non-credible threat.

The Cameron Police Department is evaluating with the Cameron School District any necessary extra precautions that should be taken.

Many who follow the Cameron Police and Emergency Management Facebook page have commented on the announcement.
