KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Coach Dawud Abdullah is the top dog at the KC Dawgs Athletic Association, but one day while working his day job, his team and their parents had a sneak play he didn't know about.

Clorice Green nominated Coach Abdullah for FOX 4's Pay It Forward Award.

"He's a great coach," Green said. "He steps up to do what parents can't do. He does a lot of things as far as transporting. He starts from little and up, four to 14, and that he continues, keeps track of the kids that he actually works with. I mean he treats them like they are his own."

"He taught us the fundamentals of basketball and football, and that it is not all about winning," one of coach Abdullah's athletes said.

Green told Coach Abdullah that parents appreciate what he does as she presented him with the $300 that is a part of the award.
