RAYTOWN, Mo. -- A teen mother faces child abuse charges in Jackson County after doctors found that her nearly five-month old child had a broken arm.

Police say the abuse happened inside a home in Raytown on Maywood Avenue. Prosecutors have charged Diana Wist, 18, with child abuse.

According to court documents, Wist admitted to officers that she tossed her baby onto the bed because the baby wouldn't stop crying.

They say she told them she suffers from postpartum depression, but hadn't been taking her medication lately.

X-rays showed the child suffered a spiral fracture to the right arm.

The Raytown mom also told police "she knew she did something stupid and regrets what she did." Bond was set at $25,000.
