LENEXA, Kan. -- A major construction project is impacting local businesses.

KDOT closed the I-35 and 95th Street interchange in February, and businesses are feeling the pinch.

Now the city of Lenexa is stepping up and showing support during the frustrating time as they try to remind people that all area businesses are open during construction.

The city has recently been featuring at least one business a week on its Facebook page to help increase their business.  This week the focus is on Mi Ranchito Mexican Restaurant. The restaurant has seen a decrease in customers the last few weeks.

The owner said she has posted extra signs in the area to remind patrons the restaurant is open, but she adds those signs aren't helping.

"They can't get here now," Jennifer Bustos-Gomez said.

The city of Lenexa also plans to feature the local Firestone and H&R Block stores -- and any other establishment that wants to be featured  approximately in the area of Noland Road to Quivira and 93rd Street to 99th Street.

Construction on the I-35 and 95th Street interchange will wrap up in August.
