Storm damages dock and awning at Smithville’s Camp Branch marina

SMITHVILLE, Mo. — An awning and dock at Smithville’s Camp Branch marina were damaged Tuesday when severe weather made its way through Clay County.

“There has been damage to docks C and D. It has broken away from land and a portion of another has collapsed,” a post on Smithville Lake – Clay County Parks Facebook page said. 

Clay County Parks added that no one will be allowed into the area or near the docks until emergency services have cleared the area.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s office, winds were reported at 60 mph at the time of the collapse.

There is no word yet on whether any boats were damaged.

No injuries were reported in the collapse.
