KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- An SUV full of children overturned along the ramp from northbound I-35 to Southwest Boulevard Friday afternoon.

There were five kids in the Ford Explorer when police say the driver tried to get off on the Southwest ramp. At that time, the Explorer flipped over twice, hit a guardrail and then landed on its top.

Two adult women, four kids, and a two-month-old baby boy were all in the SUV at the time.  Several were transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries. The extent of the injuries was not clear, but at least one of the little girls was in a neck brace. One of the boys, who was bleeding at the time, was able to call his mom.

FOX 4's Robert Townsend reports that the infant boy seemed to be perfectly fine and may have remained asleep during the accident.

Troopers say those who were bleeding and in pain suffered cuts and bruises.  Authorities on the scene called it a miracle that no one was seriously hurt or killed.

Trooper Thomas says the adults and kids were wearing seat belts.  The infant's father rushed to the scene after the accident to hold his baby.
