Rural Major Case Squad activated after 48-year-old man found murdered in JoCo., Mo.

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. — The Missouri Rural Major Case Squad was activated Thursday to aid in an investigation after a man was found shot to death in northeast Johnson County, Mo.

A Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy responded to reports of a man lying in the road the 1260 block of NE 1075 Road near the Dunksburg bridge Wednesday morning around 5:15 a.m. When the deputy arrived, he found a 48-year-old man who had been shot to death.

Johnson County conducted the initial investigation with help from the Missouri Highway Patrol’s accident investigation team, but Johnson County Sheriff Scott Munsterman activated the Rural Major Case Squad. They began their investigation at 9 a.m., Thursday.

Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity, but they did say they believe he is a Fulton, Mo., resident.
