STILWELL, Kan. -- Friends and loved ones gathered on Thursday night to remember a young woman killed by a suspected drunk driver.

A vigil was held for Caitlin Vogel, 24, at the scene of the crash at 191st and Nall. A memorial was built near the stop sign that a suspected drunk driver is accused of running through before he crashed into Vogel.

The impact killed Vogel, who worked in the Olathe School District as instructional support for children with autism.

Friends described her as a health nut who lived at the gym, and the girl who could light up the room and cheer up anyone when they were sad.

“She went above and beyond. It`s I`m here to make a difference, I`m here to show you love and respect,” said friend Kristen Sehorn.

Twenty-seven-year-old James McAlister is charged with involuntary manslaughter, and he’s in custody on a $250,000 bond.
