Driver allegedly leads police on high-speed chase, crashes into police cruiser, causes damage at local restaurant

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- One person is in custody Friday morning after they allegedly led police on a high-speed chase, crashed into a police car and caused damaged at a local restaurant.

Police say they noticed the suspect driving erratically near 31st and Broadway around 3 a.m., so they decided to follow the driver.

According to officers, the suspect drove down the hill at 31st and smashed into patio furniture at Minsky's Pizza. The collision knocked off the suspect's  front bumper.

As the suspect tried to flee the scene of the accident, he allegedly backed into a police car that was parked near 31st and Bell and then sped away.  The officer whose car was backed into was not injured.

The suspect then crossed over into Kansas and shortly after crossing the state line, he appeared to have tire issues. The suspect finally came to a stop at 10th and Metropolitan and put his hands out the window around 3:04 a.m.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
