Woman, 50, under arrest in Platte County dies in custody of deputies

PLATTE CITY, Mo. — The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman while in the custody of the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the 50-year-old woman suffered some type of medical condition as they drove her to the sheriff’s office. They say deputies tried to revive her, but here unable to.

The woman has been identified only as a 50-year-old Hispanic female. Platte County Public Information Officer, Erik Holland, said she was found in medical distress in the back of a transport van after an approximately five-minute transport.

The sheriff of Platte County, Mark Owen, said he asked Clay County to investigate.
