KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A bird flew right into the vision of Royals third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert during the second inning of Tuesday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
As Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright releases the pitch from his hand, the bird swoops in.
The Cardinals tweeted a video of the incident with the caption, “It’s not aviary day that you see that!”
Thankfully the bird did not appear to be injured.
In the video, the announcers bring up the time Hall-of-Fame pitcher Randy Johnson hit a bird with a fastball during Spring Training in 2001.
The Royals went on to defeat the Cardinals 6 to 2. The two will face off again on Tuesday at The K starting at 7:15 p.m.
