Police respond to report of shots fired at New York’s JFK airport

NEW YORK -- Authorities have shut down a terminal at New York's JFK airport amid reports of shots fired.

The possible shooting happened at Terminal 8 around 9:30 p.m.

Witnesses reported hearing two shots fired in the terminal. Police are evacuating the area while they search for a suspect. They have also shut down streets in the area.

Authorities have not yet confirmed that shots were indeed fired. No injuries have been reported.

Airline passengers tweeted that their flights were being diverted away from the airport.
