NORTH KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- North Kansas City School District is just one of the many districts headed back to school on Wednesday.

The school district recently approved a bond issue to renovate the building at North Kansas City High School, as well as add to it. The district also plans to build two new elementary schools.

A sixth-grade center, which will take an existing elementary and middle school and convert them so they only house sixth-graders, is also in the works.

The ultimate goal of the changes is to prevent overcrowding in classrooms because the North Kansas City School District is seeing 200 to 300 new students each year.
