KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Wyandotte County prosecutors charged Anthony Fields, 26, in connection with the deadly car crash at 89th and Parallel that killed Sotera Sebastian, 74, on Monday.

Fields is charged with voluntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident. He’s also charged with aggravated assault and burglary, reportedly related to crimes allegedly committed after police say he ran from the crash.

Police say Sotera  Sebastian was sitting in the back seat of the other car and wearing a seatbelt, according to police. Two others in that car also sustained injuries.

Police said the suspect in the case was speeding at the time of the crash. They say Fields fled on foot, even though he was injured.

He was arrested after a neighbor reported someone suspicious in the area.
