LEAWOOD, Kan. — A bank robbery that led to a police chase ended with two suspects in custody Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities said a suspect entered the Central Bank of the Midwest on Town Center Drive in Leawood around 1 p.m. and gave a teller a note demanding money. The suspect, described as a black male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and approximately 40 years old, then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

There were no injuries in the robbery.

Leawood police later attempted to pull over a vehicle matching the description of a possible getaway vehicle near 119th Street and Glenwood. The driver then led police on a high speed chase.

The vehicle eventually stopped on the east side of St. Joseph Health Center, where two individuals in the vehicle attempted to flee on foot. They were eventually taken into custody near Interstate 435 and State Line Road.
